New York
Staten Island Car Service
Staten Island is the most car-dependent of the five boroughs, connected to Manhattan by ferry and ferry alone, and to New Jersey by three bridges: the Goethals, Outerbridge Crossing, and Bayonne Bridge. Most Staten Island pickups reach Newark Liberty in 25-40 minutes via those New Jersey bridges, often faster than reaching JFK or LaGuardia.
Getting around Staten Island
Because there's no direct road or rail bridge to Manhattan, a Staten Island pickup headed into the city either uses the Staten Island Ferry, free but on a fixed schedule, or crosses the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge into Brooklyn and up through the city, which we use for chauffeured door-to-door service. For airport transfers, the New Jersey bridges make Newark Liberty the fastest option for most of the island, ahead of JFK or LaGuardia.
What Staten Island is like
Staten Island's suburban, car-centric character sets it apart from the other boroughs, with more single-family homes and less transit density. Ongoing construction near the New Jersey approaches, including Newark Airport-area projects, is something we track closely since it directly affects the fastest routes off the island.
Staten Island has no direct bridge to Manhattan, only a ferry, which is why most of our Staten Island airport transfers route toward Newark via the New Jersey bridges instead of JFK or LaGuardia.

Staten Island questions, answered
- Why is Newark often the best airport choice from Staten Island?
- Because the Goethals, Outerbridge, and Bayonne Bridges connect directly to New Jersey, Newark Liberty is usually faster to reach than JFK or LaGuardia.
- Do you use the Staten Island Ferry for Manhattan trips?
- For chauffeured door-to-door service we typically route via the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge through Brooklyn instead, since the ferry runs on a fixed schedule.
- How does bridge construction affect Staten Island pickups?
- We track construction near the New Jersey approaches closely, since it directly affects which bridge and route is fastest that day.
- Can you handle a Staten Island to JFK airport transfer?
- Yes, though it typically takes longer than a Newark run given the crossing required.
