Getting around Ocean County
Long Beach Island is only reachable by a single causeway bridge from the mainland, so every LBI pickup, from Barnegat Light down to Beach Haven and Harvey Cedars, is planned around that one crossing and the summer traffic that backs up onto it. The Garden State Parkway is the only practical route north to Newark Airport or Manhattan, and it's noticeably heavier on summer weekends and holiday Mondays. Toms River sits at the county's geographic center and functions as the hub for most of our Ocean County dispatch.
